Everything you've always wanted to know about the A-Tubes and more... |
There's really not much to this punk rock
epic. The A-tubes are a Punk/ska/rock'n'roll
band from Quispamsis, New Brunswick. We
formed in the summer of 1997. The band at
the time consisted of Paul LeBlanc on guitar
and vocals, Brad Dupuis on guitar and Adam
LeBlanc on drums. We played a couple of
shows when someone pointed out that we had
forgotten to get a bass player. In September,
John Hart joined and the band was complete.
Our first show all together was on Halloween
night in Sussex, New Brunswick. Nobody
seemed to care that we were there. Shortly
after that gig, Paul put down the guitar and
focused all of his energy into performing as a
singer only. Although the A-tubes have only
been around for a short while, we have been
playing in bands together ever since we
learned how to play our instruments back in
1993. John, Paul, and Adam played together
in The Degenerates. Brad and Adam play
together in the hardcore band, Mindloss,
John, Brad and Adam played together in the
short- lived, but well-liked, JJAB. Paul may
also be remembered from the Quispamsis
favorites, The Dummies. This experience has
created a band chemistry that put us all on
the same wavelength, no matter what kind of
songs we play. Everybody always seems to
know what the other guys were doing, even if
he is not quite sure of what he himself is
doing.
A little bit on each band member:
Paul LeBlanc- Likes porn, beer, the
Bouncing Souls, cheap women, beer, porn.
Adam LeBlanc (no relation)- Likes his
girlfriend, holding hands under a star lit night.
Brad Dupuis- Does what he is told, but enjoys
walks on the beach and picnics.
If we had a bass player- He would like to play
bass and stuff.
Our musical influences spread all over the
place, ranging anywhere from Bob Marley to
Minor Threat, from Buck-O-Nine to the
Clash, from Tom Jones to DRI. When a
group
of guys get together to play music and their
individual tastes are so diverse, it's no wonder
the result resembles nothing yet everything at
the same time.
An A-tubes show can raise mixed reviews
from the audience. If we play well you'll be
dancing and singing when you never thought
you would. On the other hand, if we fuck up
(quite often this is the case) you'll throw
stones, bottles, fourteen-year-olds - anything
to get us off the stage. We don't really care if
you think we're talented or not. we have fun
and we try to make sure you have fun too. If
you want us to play longer give us beer. If
you want us to leave, give us beer.
As of right now, the A-tubes are having the
time of our lives, playing in the band we have
been working to form for the last five years.
Right now it's all in the name of fun, but with
the NB scene picking up, who knows?
